You've probably heard your academic advisor mention "The Upgrade" during your recent advising appointment. "The Upgrade" refers a system-wide update of the software we use for day-to-day University operations.

Hopefully, you've been reading your emails to stay informed about how the upgrade will impact you. To help you even more, the CSE Academic Advising team has put together a few helpful pieces of information for you to know before, during, and after the upgrade.

Before the upgrade
It is important that you meet with your advisor prior to the systems going down on Friday, April 10 at 1 a.m. to have your hold lifted for fall registration.

If you are unsure what type of hold you have, review this previous Academic Advising Blog post on holds and registration. Ideally, you will be completely done with your registration prior to the systems going offline.

During the upgrade
During the 10-day period while the systems are being upgraded, you will still have "read only" access to certain information, but generally you should expect to be unable to do much. You will not be able to make any changes to your registration. Advisors and faculty members will not have access either.

Review this list to see which systems will be available during this time. There are additional services for international students that will be impacted, which can be found on the International Student and Scholar Services website.

While the systems are down, you should review the upgrade information page for students. This resource includes videos and tutorials about how registration, student finances, and grading will change after the upgrade is completed.

After the upgrade
Many of the systems you are used to will no longer exist. Fear not! As long as you use the resources available to you, you'll pick it up in no time. Furthermore, the new MyU will be much more intuitive, snazzy, and efficient to provide you with a great user experience.

Of course, your advisors are always happy to assist and direct you to resources to make the transition as smooth as possible.
