The path to studying abroad may seem daunting; however, the CSE International Programs Team is here to provide students with guidance on making their study abroad goals a reality.
Before starting your journey into opportunities abroad, ask yourself these important questions: Do I want a short-term experience, summer experience, or full semester experience? Do I want to use and grow my foreign language skills or would I prefer a program where they’re not required? Do I want, or need, to earn credits towards my degree during this time? Check out this helpful list on choosing a program based on your goals. Note that timing is key and you should get in touch with CSE International Programs as early as possible to discuss options that are right for you.
To start your exploration, use the Program Search tool filtered to “Recommended for your major” and the term you want to go to see programs. CSE specific programs are noted in the program name (i.e. CSE: Engineering & Science Exchange in Sweden). Additional CSE specific learning abroad opportunities including first-year experiences, global seminars, exchange programs, and international service and research may be found here.
Once you’ve done some research and want to talk to someone about next steps, schedule an individual appointment with the CSE International Programs team. If you have a quick question, you can also attend virtual drop-in hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-4p.m. or email at cseabroad@umn.edu.
