Can I earn a STEM degree and also learn abroad? Yes, you CAN!

The path to learning abroad may feel intimidating; however, the CSE Learn Abroad Team is here to provide our students with guidance on making your study abroad goals a reality.

The path to studying learning may feel intimidating; however, the CSE Learn Abroad Team is here to provide students with guidance on making their study abroad goals a reality.

Before starting your journey into opportunities abroad, ask yourself these important questions:

  • Do I want a short-term experience, summer experience, or full semester experience?
  • Do I want to use and grow my foreign language skills or would I prefer a program where they’re not required?
  • Do I want or need to earn credits towards my degree during this time?

Check out this helpful list on choosing a program based on your goals. Note that timing is important and you should get in touch with CSE International Programs as early as possible to discuss options that are right for you.

Use the Program Search tool filtered to “Recommended for your major” and the term you want to go to see programs to start your exploration. CSE specific programs are noted in the program name (i.e. CSE: Engineering & Science Exchange in Sweden). Additional CSE specific learning abroad opportunities including first-year experiences, global seminars, exchange programs, and international service and research may be found on the learning abroad website

Once you’ve done some research and want to talk to someone about next steps, schedule an individual appointment with the CSE Learn Abroad team. If you have a quick question you email at cseabroad@umn.edu
