Tips for successfully getting through finals

Be Well: Pace yourself, and keep those stress levels in check with exercise, good diet, healthy sleep habits, and break times between studying. The University of Minnesota has many wellness resources you can use including:

  • CSE Wellness Personalized wellness assessments, short term assistance, referrals to resources, and action plan development for CSE students  
  • Let's TalkProvides informal virtual and in-person drop-in consultations for U of M students throughout the academic year. No appointment is necessary.

  • Student Counseling ServicesConnect with resources for student wellness and success. Services include individual and group counseling.
  • Effective UOnline tutorials for personal and academic well-being 
  • Paws (Pet Away Worry and StressDestress by interacting with animals on campus
  • Mindful MondaysFree drop-in mindfulness sessions held on Zoom.


Be Prepared: Make sure you have the location details and times of your exams correct. This is where planners and calendars come in handy! Also, be sure you have all supplies you might need (pencils, calculators, additional paper, study sheets, etc.) in order. Be Strategic: Practice good time management, and be honest with yourself about your study habits. Check out some of the self-help resources from EffectiveU. Topics include exam-taking skills and other strategies for academic success. You can also review their Final Exam Prep module.
