Get ahead by preparing for the spring career fair

Of course, we want you to enjoy your well-earned vacation. But did you know that winter break is the perfect time to prepare for the Spring 2016 Science and Engineering Career Fair? Read on for some helpful hints and tips to make sure you're ready.
Fall semester may be over, but the Spring 2016 Science and Engineering Career Fair is right around the corner. Save the date (Tuesday, Feb. 2, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Mariucci Arena) and start getting ready now!

Polish your resume:
No resume? No problem! Take a look at our Career Guides on the CSE Career Center website. There are more than a dozen different guides with examples of resumes and cover letters to help get the ball rolling.

Of course, CSE Career Counselors are happy to provide feedback as well. They are available by appointment, even during winter break! Call 612-624-2890 or stop by Lind Hall, Suite 105 to schedule an appointment today.

Create your GoldPASS profile:
GoldPASS is the University of Minnesota's online database of job, volunteer, and internship opportunities. Think Monster.com, but exclusively for University of Minnesota students and alumni.

If you don't already have a GoldPASS profile, sign up for one now at goldpass.umn.edu.

Be sure to check out the GoldPASS FAQ document, the CSE Career Center's GoldPASS User Guide or the online GoldPASS tutorial for tips on how to best use the site.

Once you have an account, pre-register for the career fair on GoldPASS (Event ID #2368). Those who pre-register get access to the list of employers attending, extra tips and guidance, and the floor plan of employer booths.

Having a GoldPASS account and polished resume before the fair is essential. Some employers hold interviews immediately in the days following the event.

If you don't have a GoldPASS profile along with an uploaded resume (which must be approved by the CSE Career Center) prior to the career fair, you won't be able to reserve an interview time slot online.

We hope you're as excited about the career fair as we are! Get cracking on your resume and GoldPASS profile, and let us know if we can help!
