Fall 2016 registration quick tips

Registration for continuing students for Fall 2016 has begun! Your CSE Academic Advising team has put together a few reminders to help ensure things go as smoothly as possible.
Fall 2016 registration is now in full swing starting! Your CSE Academic Advising Team has put together a few reminders to help ensure things go as smoothly as possible.

  • Be mindful of your registration queue time. Review the Fall 2016 registration queue now, and check MyU for your specific day and time. Some courses can fill quickly, so it's critical to stay ahead of this.
  • Be aware of registration deadlines. For fall semester, you have through Monday, Sept. 12 to add courses on the registration system. You can still add a course through Monday, Sept. 19 with instructor permission. See the Fall 2016 registration deadlines for details.
  • Advisors cannot grant access to closed courses. Each department manages its own permission numbers and wait lists. If you have questions about gaining access to a closed course, check out this CSE Academic Advising Blog post on registration tips and resources.
  • If the section you wanted is full, register for a different section in the course. It is unlikely you will be granted permission to register for a closed section of a course if there is an open section that fits into your schedule. Keep in mind that as courses fill, departments may add additional seats to existing sections or open new sections.
  • Continue to check the registration website throughout the summer. Other students will be changing their schedules, which could mean an open seat for you in a course or section you weren't able to get the first time around.
